Saddleworth School looking smart for their final fling

The Year 10 boys at Saddleworth School proudly wore this former Oldham RLFC strip when they met Bridgewater High of Warrington in the final of the North-West’s most prestigious competition in schools’ rugby league.

As part of its Community programme and its ongoing forging of links with Saddleworth School, Co-op Academy Failsworth, Hathershaw College and the many Primary Schools that come under its wing, Oldham RLFC was delighted to donate this strip to Saddleworth, whose head of rugby is Gary Melling, a leading RFL touch-judge.

“It was a major final for the boys, held at Robin Park, Wigan, and they looked great in the Oldham kit,”

said Gary.

Bridgewater had a brilliant centre who was unstoppable and who scored seven tries on his own in the Warrington team’s 44-16 win.

Hibbert, Eckersley and Douglas scored tries for Saddleworth with Eckeersley landing two goals.

Squad: Campbell, Taylor, Douglas, Ashton, Eckersley, Gosling, John, Taylor, Pomfrey, Etchells, Brierley, Dransfield, Hibbert, Steventon, Clark.

The same squad will next wear the kit against Dow Dales High of Barrow in the National quarter-finals at Churchill Playing Fields, Greenfield, on Tuesday, April 23, kick-off 2.30pm.

The best wishes of everyone at Oldham RLFC goes with them.
