It has come to our attention that a keen Oldham RLFC fan, David McKown, was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his services to Hospitality Training and Education at Sheffield University.
Oldham-born David, who regularly travels from Sheffield to watch Roughyeds in action, is the university’s Head of Training and Quality in Accommodation and Commercial Services.
He has supported Roughyeds for 49 years and friends say he is as keen as ever.
He was at the Newcastle Thunder game and he plans to be at this Sunday’s clash with a Rangi Chase-inspired Doncaster.
The congratulations of everyone at Oldham RLFC go out to David on his wonderful achievement.
