The funeral of lifelong Oldham fan Jim Hallas at Oldham Crematorium next Thursday, September 12, at 3pm, will be a celebration of Jim’s life and will not be a sombre occasion, said his daughter Gwendolen.
“He was 89, he had a good life and he would want us to celebrate it rather than mourn it,” said Gwendolen, who extends an open invitation to everyone who will be at the Crematorium to join her afterwards at the 3 C’s Club in Henshaw Street, Oldham.
She said there will be no formal dress code and Roughyeds replica jerseys would be very appropriate.
“Oldham Rugby was a massive part of his life,” added Gwendolen. “He was part of a fans’ group that took him all over the country watching Oldham and I know how much he would like to see Roughyeds jerseys at his funeral.”
