Coffee Morning raised £237 for MacMillan

OLDHAM RLFC is delighted to announce that their recent Coffee Morning in aid of MacMillan Nurses Cancer Care raised £237.48 pence in little more than two hours of chatting, drinking coffee, eating cakes and socialising generally.

The final figure included a donation from CDX Security of Warrington, who were big-match sponsors when Roughyeds beat Doncaster 22-12 in the Qualifying Semi-Final of the Betfred League 1 play-offs and will sponsor again this coming Sunday, October 6, when we go head to head with Newcastle Thunder at the Vestacare Stadium for the right to win promotion to the Betfred Championship.

Needless to say our thanks go out to CDX and its managing director John Roddy, whom we will be delighted to see with his party and guests at the game on Sunday.

Roughyeds finished second in the league to Whitehaven, who go up automatically.

Back to the Coffee Morning and the club wishes to thank everyone who supported it and thus helped Roughyeds to be involved in ‘The Biggest Coffee Morning in the World‘ which is what MacMillan call the day they set aside annually for groups all over the country to hold such events.

Anne Kearns, who ran it for Roughyeds in partnership with Lynda McAndrew, said:

“It was a huge success and I’m sure we’ll be doing it again. We had a good turn-up of people, everyone enjoyed the morning and, on behalf of the club, Lynda and I would like to thank everyone for supporting it.”
