The Board of RLWC2021 has reiterated its determination to deliver the biggest and best-ever Rugby League World Cup in history, while saying it is also realistic about the significant challenges that threaten that ambition.
The statement goes on to say that in light of the decision by the ARLC and the NZRL to withdraw from the event this year, the Board has asked that the RLWC2021 team continues to hold further urgent discussions with all stakeholders, particularly the players, aimed at correcting misinformation as well as measuring the sentiment for proceeding with the tournament this year.
The Board of RLWC2021 recognises the need to bring clarity and certainty to the situation. The Board has also underlined the relentless collaborative work that has been ongoing since the beginning of the pandemic to establish the most safe and secure environment for all involved and in line with other world-class, major events that have taken place securely in the UK in 2021.
We wish to thank you all for your continued support and patience. We will communicate any further developments as soon as possible.
