Derby day point improves our average

THE league point we gained with the 22-22 draw at Swinton Lions, improved our win percentage from 14.29 to 16.67 and thus reduced the deficit we need to make up on Dewsbury Rams if we are to climb out of the Betfred Championship’s bottom two.

We remain second bottom with two wins and a draw from 15 games, while Swinton stay bottom with one win and one draw (from the last two games) from 16 games, providing them with a win percentage of 9.38, compared with our 16.67.

Dewsbury, currently third bottom, went into their game at Whitehaven yesterday with a percentage of 32.14 but their 20-18 defeat saw it reduced to 30.00.

Before those scores the difference between us was 17.85, but it’s now down to 13.33.

This coming Sunday (August 15) Dewsbury are at home to Widnes Vikings and Oldham play Sheffield Eagles at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster, where they have played all their home games this season. Swinton are at home to fifth-placed Batley Bulldogs.

This weekend’s games:

Saturday: Featherstone Rovers v York City Knights; Newcastle Thunder v Bradford Bulls; Toulouse Olympique v Halifax Panthers.

Sunday: Dewsbury Rams v Widnes Vikings; Sheffield Eagles v OLDHAM; Swinton Lions v Batley Bulldogs; Whitehaven v London Broncos.

We have six games left against Sheffield, Widnes Vikings and Dewsbury away and against Toulouse Olympique, Featherstone Rovers and Newcastle Thunder at Bower Fold.

The game against Dewsbury at The Tetley’s Stadium is our last of the season on Sunday, September 19.
