BRIAN McDermott has plenty of interesting things to say in his Online Programme notes for this Sunday’s Featherstone Rovers game at Bower Fold (3pm kick-off).
He speaks, in the main, about the Roughyeds’ battling performance against the full-time, big-spending Toulouse Olympique, who have set their sights firmly on promotion to Super League and have prepared accordingly.
Just to give you a taste, he sums up like this:
“We defended to a level I doubt we’ve reached before; our attack looked threatening; and we had a kicking game on which we can build.”
Club chairman Chris Hamilton and captain Gareth Owen give you the “inside” take on THAT rousing performance against a team that is clearly going places and has put a few cricket scores on opponents this year.
To restrict them to 12 second-half points was very credible indeed. It’s fair to say they knew they had been in a game, and its also fair to say that Brian McDermott’s view is a good read about his views on rugby league and his thoughts on how we tackled a very similar challenge to the one we will face again this Sunday.
At £2.50, the 24-page programme is full of news, views and facts about the club and its players, especially winger Tommy Brierley and in-form forward Martyn Reilly, with whom our editorial team do Q and A features.
Dave Naylor looks at Featherstone and selects his Three To Watch, while Roger Halstead starts a new series in which he will turn the spotlight on the Ex-Players Association and the role it can play in the furtherance of rugby league in our borough.
There’s a detailed and Heritage-inspired look at our season-by-season ever-presents, going back to the year dot, and a flashback piece which recalls the excitement of a Grand Final involving Roughyeds and Featherstone at Headingley.
For £2.50 it’s all yours. Get it NOW and get it from the Roughyeds on-line store.
