New venue for the late Vera's 'celebration of life'

THE late Vera Hough’s memorial ‘celebration of life’, to be held this coming Wednesday (Feb 16), starting at noon, has been switched from Uppermill Conservative Club to Saddleworth Rangers ARLFC at Shaw Hall Bank Rd, Greenfield, OL3 7LD due to the numbers of people who have already confirmed their attendance.

The family feel there will be no problems with parking at the rugby league club where the well-known Ray Hicks, a prominent member of the Oldham RL Players’ Association, will be in charge of the bar.

Valerie, John and family look forward to your company at Vera’s send-off and ask that you please confirm your attendance and let them know you are aware of the venue change.

Vera died last month, aged 90, after supporting Roughyeds for nearly the whole of her long life. Her loyal support over a lifetime was exemplary and the club will seriously miss her outstanding input and support.

RIP Vera, what a life to celebrate! And a Roughyed, as the club’s well-known secretary Bert Summerscales used to say, “from the cradle to the grave.”
