Another positive partners' meeting

ROUGHYEDS have had another positive, upbeat partners meeting with Councillor Ros Birch, the Players’ Association (John Watkins and Ray Hicks), Rugby Oldham (Mike Kivlin, Ian Wilson) and the Oldham RL Heritage Trust (Michael Turner) in attendance.

Christopher Hamilton, who chaired the meeting, provided the nuts and bolts of a major development that’s already been announced publicly; namely, the 15-year lease with the RFL that provides Oldham RLFC and Hollinwood ARLFC with joint use of Melrose Playing Fields on Fields New Road in Chadderton.

Roughyeds will use Melrose as a training base and, via their Community Trust, as a venue for community initiatives, to be announced soon.

There was general discussion on several other initiatives too, all designed to push, promote and publicise Rugby League in Oldham.
