Night off as Oldham get ready for the big one

IF Roughyeds are to pick up where they left off last time out, and win, they’ll have to achieve something no other team in Betfred League One has managed so far.

Top-of-the-shop Keighley Cougars, whom Oldham visit a week on Sunday, June 26, have reached the half-way point in the league season with a 100 per cent record – ten wins from ten games.

It all kicked off on the opening day of the season when they won 32-6 at the Vestacare Stadium back in March.

After a decent performance in defeat by Swinton Lions, followed by a 66-0 triumph against Hurricanes, can Roughyeds avenge that home defeat by Cougars when they go to Cougar Park ?

If so, they’ll have to do it without regular prop Luke Nelmes and promising young half  Robbie Butterworth, both of whom will be suspended.

“We’ll miss them, but one man’s misfortune is another man’s opportunity.”

said Littler, who revealed that Nelmes suffered a hip injury against Hurricanes, for which he had gone to hospital for a routine check.

Littler gave his players a night off last night but they will be back in on Thursday.
