Windrow recalled by Trinity

WITH Jay Pitts and Max Jowitt facing injury lay-offs, Wakefield Trinity have recalled Dane Windrow from his loan spell at Roughyeds.

The 19-year-old second-row forward arrived at Oldham in mid-April, initially on a two-week loan which, in May, was extended to the end of the season but with a 48-hour recall clause.

He has played nine times for Roughyeds, scoring two tries, and has been a regular choice in the second-row.

Said Oldham coach Stu Littler:

“We thank Dane for his efforts on our behalf and wish him well for the future, hopefully in Super League. He has thanked us, too, for what we have done for him.”

Full time, and a member of Trinity’s first-team squad, Windrow will see his future in Super League and he leaves us with every good wish for the future, both on the field and off it.

On a similar theme, prop Nyle Flynn is no longer at Oldham, having been recalled by Bulldogs. He came in mid-May on a season-long loan with a 48-hour recall clause and has since gone back to Mount Pleasant after playing in five games.

A third loanee, hooker Declan O’Donnell, has gone back to Workington Town, his parent club, because his month’s loan is up, but he is injured anyway and unable to play.

The best wishes of everyone at this club go with all returning loanees and also to their parent clubs for their help and cooperation in these matters.

Luke Nelmes appears before an RFL disciplinary tribunal later today (Tuesday) to answer a grade D dangerous-contact charge in the Rochdale game.

The Roughyeds vice-captain is alleged to have made “a late tackle after his opponent had passed the ball and was in a vulnerable position.
