IMPRESSIVE England look certain to top group A in this fascinating World Cup after they followed up their 60-6 win against Samoa in Newcastle with a 42-18 victory against France at Bolton.
Wingers Ryan Hall and Dom Young each scored two, Young setting the stadium alight with a length-of-the-field interception try, and forwards Luke Thompson, Elliott Whitehead and Vic Radley also touched down with Marc Sneyd landing seven conversions from all distances and angles.
England were well on top for most of the game, but they lapsed a little in the 20 minutes before half-time when France hit back from 0-18 to 12-18.
Half-back George Williams, named man of the match, said: “We had a suspect patch, but the main thing is we won – and won well.”
England now look certain to storm into the quarter-finals as group leaders as Shaun Wane’s men continue to set the competition alight with a brand of rugby that’s as entertaining as it is effective.
