Players' Association supporting our Club Cash lottery

THE Oldham RLFC Players’ Association, whose backing of and support for the Roughyeds has never been stronger, have circulated their latest minutes which show they will continue their membership of our Club Cash lottery with five shares a week.

In sincerely thanking the Players’ Assn for their support, we urge as many people as possible to join Club Cash, which provides us with an absolute vital source of income at a tough time for everyone and for all clubs, but particularly for those in Betfred League One and those without a ground of their own.

You can join for as little as £1 a week and for that you are in with a chance of winning guaranteed weekly prizes of £1,000, £100, £50 and £25, plus one of ten weekly consolation prizes of £10.

The prize structure also includes a jackpot prize of £500 a week which isn’t guaranteed, but which rolls over, if it isn’t won on any particular week, up to a maximum of £10,000.

All that for £1 a week . . . and your support would be a massive help for Oldham Rugby !

You can read more about Club Cash and download a Standing Order application form on our Club Cash Partnership page.

AND PLEASE SEND THE FORM TO THE CLUB — NOT, AS SOME PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY DONE, TO YOUR BANK.

The Players’ Association now has 61 signed-up members and reports that others are joining all the time. Membership, now due, is only £10 a year and current members are being urged to encourage their old mates to join and to re-ignite and rekindle their old playing-days camaraderie.

Their next meeting is this coming Monday, January 9 at Springhead Sports and Social Club, starting at 7.45pm. All players and former players are welcome — those who’ve been before and those who may be going for the first time.

The Roughyeds meet-and-chat club on a Tuesday at Heyside Cricket Club (12.30pm to 2pm) starts again after the Christmas and New Year recess this coming Tuesday, January 10.

Elsewhere, Saddleworth Rangers will put on their annual and traditional Burns Night at the White Hart, Lydgate on Thursday, January 26. The cost is £25 per head and any member of the Players’ Association who needs a ticket or tickets is asked to speak to Joe Warburton, John Watkins or Ray Hicks sooner rather than later.

Rugby league fans wishing to join the YEDS’ Supporters’ group can do so on the YEDS website which also carries details of their events and, when the season starts, will give details of away-day travel to Oldham away games.
