The entertainers do it again

PLAYING a brand of rugby that was as entertaining as it was ruthlessly effective, Roughyeds took their try tally to 21 in two Betfred League One home games this season when they thumped derby rivals Rochdale Hornets 56-16 in a Good Friday spectacular.

Eleven tries against London Skolars in the first home game at the Vestacare Stadium was followed by another 10 in this one with Logan Astley, Alex Sutton,Jordan Paga and Luke Nelmes each scoring two either side of an opener by Patrick Ah Van and a final try from Connor Carr.

Martyn Ridyard, kicking beautifully as always, chipped in with eight goals from ten conversion attempts as Stuart Littler’s men retained their 100 per cent league record with three wins from three games.

Luke Nelmes was named man of the match and the Champagne Moment winner was 19-year-old forward sub Harvey Wilson, grandson of the late and legendary Ken ‘Tug’ Wilson, of Watersheddings fame.
