Public Forum on Tuesday night at Oldham Event Centre, Boundary Park

OLDHAM RLFC’s new board of directors wishes to remind everyone that fans, potential fans and others – everybody, in fact – is invited to a Roughyeds’ public forum on Tuesday (May 23) at the Oldham Event Centre, Boundary Park, starting at 7.30pm.

The new owners promised a public Q and A in their initial press release and they feel now is an appropriate time for them to deliver on this and to go head-to-head with their fellow Roughyeds’ fanatics’.

Said managing director Mike Ford:

“We need to stress that this great club, with its illustrious history, is OUR club. It’s not my club, or Bill Quinn’s club. it belongs to this great town of ours, OLDHAM, so we ALL have a say in it and we are ALL custodians. We are all supporters, after all, and as I keep saying: ‘We are all in this together.’ There are no egos here and no single person is looking to take credit. It’s a collective drive and we ALL want it to succeed. We’re OLDHAM, we’re proud, so let’s show the rugby league world what we can do when we stick together and fight for our heritage.”

On Tuesday, supporters will hear more about the club’s vision and its plans for the current season and beyond.

The intention is to make this YOUR evening, with most of it freed up for an open floor Q and A session in which fans will have an opportunity to ask the board questions, make their own observations and tell the directors what they think we should do to carry our club forward.

What with IMG, a cost-of-living crisis, and tough and vigorous competition for our money, our free time and our disposable income these are tough times, but most of us are the products of families which have lived through arguably even tougher times and if nothing else we owe it to them to roll up our sleeves and show them what we made of and what this town of ours is made of.

Simon Winnard, the director whose special responsibility is engagement with supporters, said: “As promised in our initial press release, we are delighted to be holding our first open public forum.

“Supporters are invited to come along, meet with and pose any questions to the new directors and the coaching team. We are committed to engaging transparently with our supporters and working together to drive our club forward. Oldham RLFC belongs to us all, and this will be a great opportunity for us to get together and discuss all things Oldham Rugby’.

That’s Tuesday night, 7.30pm at the Oldham Event Centre in the Joe Royle stand at Boundary Park, with access off Broadway and plenty of free car parking space. Please be there if at all possible.
