Johnson named in Littler's 21-man squad

NEW signing Josh Johnson goes straight into Stuart Littler’s 21-man squad for Sunday’s clash against Workington Town at the Vestacare Stadium.

Oldham lad Johnson, whose capture was announced yesterday, would make his first appearance for Roughyeds since his dual-registration spell in 2015, should he be selected.

Roughyeds will be without both Zac Baker and Jordan Paga, who have been stalwarts in Littler’s squad this year.

Baker will be back available for selection next week after he picked up a one match ban for a Grade B Strike.

Paga, though, who pleaded guilty to a Grade E “Makes unnecessary contact with a Player who is or may be injured” at an independent tribunal this week, will miss the next four games.

With that in mind, half-back Kieran Tyrer comes into the team on dual-registration from Wigan Warriors.

Tyrer has featured three times for Roughyeds this season and has scored one try and assisted three.

It is set to be a battle at the Vestacare with Workington looking to get one over on Roughyeds after falling short in the closing stages in the reverse fixture, earlier this season.

Admission prices for the 3pm kick off are £16 for adults, £10 for concessions (65 and over), £5 for students and FREE for under-16s.

You can secure your spot at the Vestacare now by visiting our ticketing page, or alternatively you can pay on the day at the cash-only turnstiles.

Squad in full: Ah Van, Blagbrough, Carr, Cameron, Forber, Hartley, Hirst, Johnson, McNally, Meadows, Moran, Morgan, Nelmes, Newton, Rawsthorne, Ridyard, Slater, Tyrer, Whittel, Wilkinson, Wilson.
