Roary's visit to Limehurst Lions

ROARY’S Pride and the YEDS Supporters’ Group are to donate ten training balls to each junior club in Oldham with much involvement, and a donation, from Tony Linney, a YEDS member and a long-time Oldham fan.

When Mike Ford met the town’s junior coaches recently, the club’s managing director, former GB tourist and ex-Oldham player, coach and player-coach, was accompanied by club chairman Bill Quinn, director Simon Winnard and a four-strong Roary’s Pride contingent comprising David and Nathan Murgatroyd, Julie Smith and Kasey Arnold, writes ROGER HALSTEAD.

David announced at that meeting that YEDS and Roary’s Pride, assisted by Tony, would donate training balls to each club and that process began when Roary and his entourage visited Limehurst Lions.

Said Dave:

”Roary handed over the balls to much excitement among the players. He stayed a while to say hello to each age group."

Our two pictures show Roary with some of the Limehurst players and, separately, with Danny Martin, one of the Limehurst coaches and grandson of the late Jack Roscoe, our former time-keeper, well-known fan and life-long Roughyeds enthusiast.

At the next home game against promotion rivals Doncaster on Sunday, June 18 (3pm kick off) – a crucial clash in the jostle among the top three positions in Betfred League One – Pride youngsters will have a tug of war at half-time. It’s exclusively for Roary’s Pride members, who must report to Dave Murgatroyd as soon as they arrive at the ground to put their names forward for tug-of-war.
