Harold Lill dies, aged 86

Harold Lill, the former Rochdale Hornets, Swinton and Whitehaven forward, has died at the age of 86 and his funeral service will be held this coming Thursday, August 3 at 11am at Oldham Crematorium, Hollinwood.

We are indebted to Tony Pratt and the Rochdale Ex-Players’ Association for sending us this sad news about Harold, one of many Oldhamers down the years who has played amateur rugby league locally and has then gonr on to turn pro for Rochdale Hornets.

He played 39 games for Hornets between 1957 and 1962 and then went on to play for Swinton and WVhitehaven. He made his debut for Hornets against Workington Town in April, 1957.

He will have had family and friends in this area., to whom wse send the sincere condolences of everyone at Oldham RLFC.
