PREPARATIONS are stepping up a notch as Oldham look to be firing come knock-out rugby in September.
Roughyeds have lost three out of their last four with those defeats being against sides placed above them.
Prior to that, Oldham were on a six game unbeaten streak with a draw against table-toppers Dewsbury, as well as a resounding 40-20 victory over Hunslet.
And head coach Stuart Littler is confident his men can recapture that form and be bouncing come the play-offs.
“We know where we are at, we have had a bit of a dip – but we’ve had a chat as a team on how we can bounce back from it and come out the other side.
“We are not done yet and we are embracing this challenge ahead of us and, if anything, we are more stringent at this time of the year.
“We’ve worked really hard this year to get ourselves within touching distance. It’s time to pull together to make sure we are firing going into the play-offs, because there are not many second chances.”
Should Roughyeds have won their last game against Hunslet, they could have gone second – as it stands they are now fifth after Workington beat Cornwall 34-16.
With the fixture against the West Cumbrian side still to be re-arranged, a fourth-place position is still in Oldham’s hands.
The play-off race has been blown wide open recently, with Doncaster losing to both Hunslet and Midlands – so anything could happen.
The focus now, though, is hitting peak form by the end of these next four games with the first being against Cornwall on August 6.
