Safety in numbers

IT’S an old saying that there is safety in numbers and ‘numbers’ were evident when under-11s to under-14s inclusive turned up at Melrose for training as part of Oldham’s Community Development Programme, run under the auspices of the RFL and with the full support of OLDHAM RLFC and, in particular, the club’s managing director Mike Ford, who has coached the coaches with the help of two of his sons, Joe and George.

Our four pictures separately show the under-11s, under-12s, under-13s and under-14s. Pictures by DAVID MURGATROYD

Ford said:

“It was a magnificent turn-out. Joe Warburton and John Byram take a bow.”

The development coaches and the pathway players will be parading at half-time during the Oldham v North Wales Crusaders game at the Vestacare stadium on Sunday (kick-off 3pm) and parents/guardians of those pathway players who are attending the game (FREE for under-16s) can get in for £5 with a ticket obtained from Joe Warburton at training on Saturday.
