PATRICK Ah Van topped our try scorers in 2023 with 15 — three more than Jordan Paga, who came second, and five more than third-placed Nick Rawsthorne, the winger from Halifax, who was one of the six new signings in mid-season and who scored, on average, a try in every game he played.
Ah Van, the former Widnes Vikings star, finished third overall in the Betfred League One list behind Doncaster captain and second-row forward Sam Smeaton, on 20, and former Oldham full-back Owen Restall of Dewsbury Rams, who finished on 16.
