O'Keefe swaps Rochdale for Oldham

ROUGHYEDS have secured the highly-rated centre Ben O’Keefe on a deal lasting until the end of the 2025 season.

O’Keefe (pictured on the right) arrives at Boundary Park after two seasons with neighbours Rochdale Hornets.

In the recent 2023 campaign, he scored four tries in 15 appearances and was a threat whenever Roughyeds went head-to-head with Rochdale.

A product of the esteemed Wigan youth system, he was part of the Warriors’ reserve side that won the Grand Final while maintaining an unbeaten record throughout 2022.

After scoring a first half hat-trick in the 40-12 Grand Final win over Wakefield Trinity, he earned a place in the Wigan first team.

In a memorable Super League debut, O’Keefe scored a try and kicked four out of five goals in a 38-28 defeat to Hull KR.

In the same season, he spent time on loan at Rochdale where he scored an impressive ten tries in eight appearances, before he signed for Hornets on a permanent deal ahead of the 2023 season.

Centre O’Keefe brings versatility to Roughyeds with him capable of operating at full-back, wing and second-row.

He becomes Oldham’s fifth new signing since the conclusion of the 2023 League One campaign, following Mo Agoro, Brad Gallagher, Jay Chapelhow and Jack Johnson.

More announcements will follow in the days to come.
