ASSISTANT boss Brendan Sheridan will resume his role with Roughyeds in 2024 after penning a one-year extension.
As one of the club’s longest-serving members, Sheridan will enter his fifth season with Oldham since he joined alongside then-coach Matt Diskin in 2019.
Adept at helping create a positive team culture with his player-focused coaching approach, Sheridan has been a key member of the club’s backroom staff for the past four seasons.
He will be joined by Jordan Turner and Joe Wardle as part of a three-strong team who will assist the yet-to-be announced head coach.
“It was a no-brainer for me because I love the club,” said the former Dewsbury Celtic head coach.
“I had an offer last year with another championship club, but I turned it down because I’m red and white through and through.
“I’m an honourary Lancashireman and as soon as I was offered the deal, I signed it; it was a pretty easy decision.
“I’m big on family and building relationships and, to me, Oldham is a family.
“It’s a big deal for me to create relationships with the players, fans and staff and I can’t wait to do it again next year.
On working with the likes of Turner and Wardle, Sheridan said:
“The club and the players are going to benefit from the quality of coaches that we have got now.
“I want to help them to make sure their transition into coaching is pretty smooth and be available for them if they need any advice.
“The place is buzzing at the moment, so hopefully we can gel together and become one big family to move the club forward.”
Sheridan’s retention is a key element of the club’s ambition to develop a coaching structure that can rival several Super League clubs.
