OLDHAM RLFC 1876 wish it to be known that ALL community coaches in Oldham, with the emphasis on ALL, are invited to attend an important meeting at the Crown Inn, Walsh Street, Chadderton, OL9 9LR on Thursday, January 18 (next Thursday) to be told what the Pathway Programme has to offer and how it works for local players and coaches.
Joe Warburton and John Byram, who run the Pathway Programme for Oldham RLFC, can’t emphasise too much the importance of this meeting in terms of running the Pathway Programme and doing what’s best for the development of local boys.
Mike Ford will be there and if anyone needs further information about the meeting or, indeed, about anything relating to the RFL’s Pathway Programme they can contact Joe Warburton on 07882848340.
Joe and John Byram attended a Lions Development Programme (Pathway) conference on Tuesday, called by the RFL at Ince Rose Bridge ARLFC in Wigan. It was attended by all clubs in the RFL who have Pathway programmes, including Wigan, St Helems, Wakefield, Salford and now Oldham, of course.
The morning session dealt with the new rules to be implemented this year at amateur level and the reasoning behind the changes. It finished with a practical session delivered by Chris Spurr on safe tackling technique.
In the afternoon session RFL staff explained to clubs how the Pathway worked for players from under-12s to under-18s.
The Oldham club is now ready to deliver the Pathway Programme from under-12s to under-16s. The programme for under-15s and under-16s is ready to deliver, in conjunction with Leeds Rhinos, a programme which will culminate in matches against Halifax Pathway.
But don’t forget the meeting in Chadderton next Thursday. That’s where everything can be cleared up so that clubs, coaches, players and parents/guardians know exactly how and when it all works out.
