The funeral of former Oldham centre Malcolm Price, who turned pro for the Roughyeds as a Welsh RU international in 1961, will take place at St James’s Church, Milnrow on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 1.30pm, followed by interment at Crompton Cemetery and afterwards at the Bella Vista Restaurant, Milnrow.
A classy centre, and one of the few players to be picked for both the British Lions at Union and Great Britain at League, Malcolm played most of his League for Rochdale Hornets and it is thanks to Tony Pratt and the Hornets Ex-Players Association, endorsed by Joe Warburton and the Oldham Players’ Association, that we bring you details of Malcolm’s funeral, courtesy initially of Malcolm’s daughter Elise and family.
The family request that those attending wear a hint of red to represent Malcolm’s Welsh heritage. Born in Pontypool, South Wales, he won nine Welsh caps as a very young player and, before he came north to sign for Oldham, was expected to play for Wales and the Lions for many years. He was a proud Welshman.

Passed away peacefully on 7th January 2024, aged 86 years.
A dearly loved dad, proud Grandad and great friend to many. Forever loved and missed.
Service at St James’ Church, Milnrow on Wednesday 31st January 2024 at 1:30pm prior to interment at Crompton Cemetery and afterwards at the Bellavista Restaurant, Milnrow.
