Bill's battlecry

Chairman Bill Quinn has issued the following poem ahead of our Challenge Cup fourth round clash against Swinton Lions.

Hello Lions, Respect to you all,

The mighty yeds are coming, to silence your roar

There’s no winners’ tea, but supper is okay

The yeds are on fire, please don’t run away.

Lion Tamer Rise to quell the heat,

Run circles around - til they’re out on their feet.

Good jokes we play, the fans will be roaring,

Make no mistake, this game won’t be boring.

Koppy and Moran to soften you,

Then comes Farnworth, Johnson to leave you black and blue.

Ellis and Craven and Wildie - the brains,

The Chapelhow’s and Lawton, like runaway trains.

Then comes Wardle, Taylor and Jordan Turner…

Three class players who can turn on the burners.

O’Keefe and Johnson, don’t forget Agoro,

They make at pace “go Mo GO!”

You can try to chase us down the wing

Right past the thousands who were born to sing.

That’s just a few of our mighty team, with more great players to shatter your dream.

Not to mention our number 18, the many in the stands without whom no Oldham would there be.

So all of you great rugby league clubs out there, please don’t hate, we at Oldham care.

Wishing success to all, from the mighty to the small. But once on the field, Oldham bid to win every ball

This was written by our Chairman Bill Quinn, love him or hate him, put him in the sin bin?

He talks the talk and walks the walk each which way. His dream: to have our club and fans walk down Wembley way.

So when our team comes to the field, our fans voices becomes our shield.

So come on you yeds, come down and cheer. That day at Wembley one day soon will be here!

Stronger together
