Haydn's tribute to both Warby and to Oldham fans

HAYDN Walker, a full-time director of the club, is now attending the monthly meetings of the Players Association as a club rep on a regular basis.

His presence is welcomed by the Association, for whom Ray Hicks said:

“This week’s meeting was another good one. It is a huge boost to have an official of the parent club with us.”
It was reported that Chris Joynt and Chris Parr were the latest former players to join the Association.
Joe Warburton, its secretary, doubles up as Oldham RLFC’s main man on its Pathway programme for young players and he reported that 40 under-15s and under-16s were at Melrose on Saturday morning and that younger age groups would follow soon.
He said he was also working closely with Beth Sutcliffe, on Oldham’s behalf, on the development of girls’ and women’s rugby league in this area.
On behalf of the parent body, Haydn said:

“I’d like to place on record the thanks of the board to Joe Warby for all he does — not just for Roughyeds but for rugby league generally in Oldham. He goes far and beyond the call of duty and I want him to know how much we appreciate him.
“The same can be said of Oldham fans. They were magnificent at Swinton and at York despite the results. When you hear chanting like that when you are 30 points down it makes it all worthwhile. A big ‘thank you’ to the fans from the board.
The results and performances were disappointing but the reality is that the league has to be the priority.”
