THE funeral of former Rochdale Hornets chairman Peter Rush, a Hornets ambassador to the day he died, will be held tomorrow (Friday, March 8) at 10am at St Luke’s Church in the centre of Heywood.
Although Peter played for Hornets in his youth and was a Hornets man through and through, he was essentially a Rugby League man with loads of friends and acquaintances in Oldham.
“He was exceptionally well known in the Oldham area — a man who loved Hornets all his life, but supported anything to do with Rugby League, especially at amateur level,”
said a former Oldham chairman, John Chadwick, who is currently vice-president of the Oldham club.
Peter, a former Mayor of Rochdale, was very well known in Oldham rugby league circles and was invariably at the Standard Cup Final.
