THE ever-popular Touch-Rugby programme is back on Oldham Rugby League Club’s Community schedule, starting at Whitebank Stadium this coming Wednesday, May 4 at 7pm when the club will be privileged to have a special ‘guest’ — the famous Rugby League Challenge Cup.
It will be at Whitebank as a forerunner to Oldham’s sixth-round Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tie against Super League leaders Warrington Wolves at Bower Fold next Saturday, May 7 (3pm kick-off) and anyone turning up for touch-rugby on Wednesday will be able to have their photographs taken with the world-famous silverware.
An opportunity not to be missed for all rugby league fans !
Unlike the last two years, touch-rugby isn’t at Oasis Academy this time, but at Whitebank Stadium (OL8 3JH) where car parking is available.
Fun sessions will be held every Wednesday, from 7pm to 9pm, costing only £3 per person per night, paid on the night. All you have to do is turn up.
Prizes — Oldham RLFC, Grand Final and Challenge Cup final tickets, for example — will be on offer for players who reach certain targets, while anyone who attends 10 sessions will get a Play Touch-Rugby water bottle or a protein shaker.
The programme will be led by the Roughyeds’ community coach Danny Newall, who said: “We are out to make Touch Rugby the corner-stone of the club’s Community Project.
“It’s a great way of keeping fit and losing weight. Last year we had people who were regularly burning off 2,000 calories every week.
“We have lots of laughs, great fun, lots of banter and everyone gets on well. Over the two years I’ve spent at the club the Touch- Rugby season is what I most look forward to. It doesn’t matter what age or gender you are, or how much or how little skill you have, there will always be a role for you. People have surprised themselves with how much they can achieve.”
