OUR battle to avoid relegation from the KP Championship has taken a double turn for the better in the last 24 hours.
We set the ball rolling with a superb 24-16 win at Sheffield Eagles — our first away win in the Championship and one which enabled us to complete a league double over the full-time professionals from South Yorkshire.
That lifted us above Whitehaven and took us outside of the bottom-two relegation zone for the first time in several weeks.
Then, 24 hours later, the Cumbrians remained second bottom when beaten 16-8 by Batley Bulldogs at the Recreation Ground.
The three Sunday games that are relevant to the relegation battle are Dewsbury Rams v London Broncos, Featherstone Rovers v Workington Town and Swinton Lions v Halifax.
Roughyeds entertain Swinton at Bower Fold next Sunday, July 10, in what will clearly be one of the most important games of the season for both clubs.
Hopefully, all roads will lead to Bower Fold (3pm kick-off) as we strive for our third win in a row and bid to avenge our two previous defeats by the Lions this year.
