ONCE Christmas and the New Year are over, our much-anticipated Law Cup clash against Rochdale Hornets at Bower Fold will be only three weeks away.
And at this the Roughyeds’ first home game of 2017, the Oldham Roughyeds Supporters’ Association (ORSA) are putting on one of their highly-popular hot-and-cold buffets in the hospitality lounge when fans will have the opportunity to kick-start the new season at Bower Fold in style both before and after what is sure to be an exhilarating local derby,
Make a note now of the relevant details —- Sunday, January 22, Bower Fold, Stalybridge, kick-off at 3pm.
To reserve a place in the hospitality lounge at this first big ORSA event of the year all you have to do is ring Paul Hulbert on 07534329674 or John McAndrew on 07980129541. They will book you in and make arrangements for payment so why not treat yourself and/or partner to a Christmas present with a difference and then look forward to the big day.
On the menu will be ORSA’s usual high-quality cold buffet as well as soup, hot roast-beef sandwiches and potatoes. Tea and coffee will be served too. This is an all-pay game and the price of £25 per head is inclusive of a match ticket for a seat in the main stand.
Doors open at 1pm for a 1.30pm start and your welcome to a brand-new Bower Fold season of rugby league will include introductory remarks by Roger Halstead and pre-match interviews with chairman Chris Hamilton and coach Scott Naylor as we all look ahead with eager anticipation to the ‘new’ club’s 20th Anniversary season and our second season in what promises to be the best and most competitive year ever in the Kingstone Press Championship.
You can return to the lounge at half-time for tea or coffee and biscuits, while after the game you’ll be there to witness and enjoy the official presentations to the man of the match and the champagne-moment winner, both of whom will be lauded by Chris and invited to say a few words.
If you’ve enjoyed match-day hospitality previously you’ll know it’s good value for money. If not, give it a ‘try’ . . . there’s a fair chance you’ll be ‘converted’.
Before then, of course, we have two other warm-up games away from home. The first is against Swinton Lions at Heywood Road, Sale on Sunday, January 8 and the second is at Craven Park, Barrow on Sunday, January 15, both providing supporters with tasters for our Bower Fold homecoming on January 22 and our first opportunity in 2017 to win a trophy.
