Langers hopeful of return to action

DANNY Langtree remains upbeat about his prospects of returning from injury in Oldham’s first league game of the season against Sheffield Eagles at Bower Fold on Sunday, February 5.

Out with a hamstring problem since minute two of the Roughyeds’ first friendly at Swinton on January 8, ‘Langers’ is getting “more and more frustrated” by the day, said coach Scott Naylor after training last night.

He added: “Danny is quietly confident that he will be training properly next week, but we’ve got to take it step by step. We don’t want to rush him and set him back.

“He made some progress last night when, for the first time since he was hurt, he ventured outside to do some work one-on-one with the conditioner.”

Naylor said the overall injury situation had not changed much in the last few days, but several victims were being held back merely for precautionary reasons and he expected most of them to be training flat out next week.

Fans waiting for pre-paid season-ticket books are asked to collect them from the main entrance at Bower Fold before the Sheffield game on Sunday week, but NOT at Whitebank, which is now a construction site and not safe for public access.

Season tickets will be available from 1.30pm (main entrance) and turnstiles open at 2pm. The match starts at 3pm.

Receipts will be required and/or confirmation of payments made online.
