News from the changing room

I put a tweet out after the London game saying ‘cruel game is rugby’ and that pretty much sums up the last 2 weeks for us.

Coming off the back of a good win against Sheffield we knew we needed another big performance if we wanted to have a chance against Fev. In all fairness that’s what we got, we were in a very good position coming in at half-time 4-6 up but we just couldn’t get ourselves over the line in the second-half to get at least a point which I reckon we deserved.

So we moved on and again we knew that coming up against a full-time team, it was going to need a big team performance if we were going to have a chance of beating London.

In all fairness I thought we gave it a good crack and to get ourselves in such a strong winning position at 6 points up with 10 minutes to play. Then, when they scored and missed the kick, it seemed like we were soon to get the W on the board but we switched off a couple of times near the end. It ended up costing us dearly, just the same as the Featherstone game; we just couldn’t get over the line.

Being in the positions we were at half time, even 60 minutes deep in both games shows what type of team we have and how good of a team we actually are. We just have to learn how to get ourselves over the winning line after doing all the hard work in the first 3/4 of the game and need to start taking our chances.

If a couple of things had gone right for us we could be 3 wins from 3 and top of the table but that isn’t to be and we move on from it and The lads aren’t disheartened by the last 2 weeks, we are actually brimming with confidence as we have shown we can mix with the best of them if we turn up on the day. Hopefully we can kick on from the recent disappointments and start getting those all important 2 points on the league table.

Finally I’d just like to mention Phil Joy; he managed to dislocate his shoulder when we were defending our own line. He took a knee but after a few harsh words off me and Spanner, he came back into the defensive line with his shoulder hanging down somewhere near his knees and defended with the lads for 3 plays! I would just like to wish him a speedy recover from myself and the lads.
