What Scott said . . .

NEVER one to make excuses and always calling it as he sees it, Scott Naylor said he was disappointed with Oldham’s performance in a 48-0 defeat Hull KR, but he promised that his Roughyeds wouldn’t play like that again when Dewsbury Rams come to Bower Fold next Sunday (3pm kick-off).

He said: “Previously this season we’ve based our performances on a good attitude, big hearts and maximum effort and in most of the boys those three key ingredients were missing this time.

“As we knew they would, Hull KR came out with all guns blazing. They started the game very quickly; we started slowly and poorly. They were 24-0 up on no time and after that it was a just a matter of damage limitation.

“That was a shame because previously this season we’ve shown we are no longer the team of old. Unfortunately, in this game, we suffered some flashbacks.

“The wind was bad for both sides. I can’t blame the wind because we lost the ruck; because our contact was poor; because our skill levels weren’t good; or because the backfield made so many mistakes.

“Our whole game was off, for whatever reason, but looking at it positively we might have got it all out of our system now. We definitely won’t play like that next Sunday against Dewsbury Rams at Bower Fold.
