BBC camera crews will be at Oldham RL Club’s training session tonight, filming and interviewing ahead of the Roughyeds’ fourth-round Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tie against amateurs Haydock at Bower Fold on Saturday.
The tie, kicking off at 1pm, will be streamed live on the BBC Sport website.
As part of RFL and BBC plans to give the tie the full TV-game treatment, the world-renowned Challenge Cup trophy will be situated inside the ground from turnstiles opening at noon until 20 minutes before kick-off.
Fans can be photographed with the trophy for a donation of £2 which will go to the Oldham RLFC Community Trust.
The trophy will also be displayed at the entrance to the players’ tunnel as both teams enter the field to a guard of honour formed by youngsters from St Anne’s ARLFC and Haydock juniors.
Another group of St Anne’s junior players will be in charge of the giant Ladbrokes promotional flag which is featured at all Challenge Cup TV games.
Cheer leaders will distribute ‘TRY’ cards and at half-time two lucky fans, randomly chosen from the crowd, will have a chance to win £5,000 in the Ladbrokes Crossbar Challenge.
