OLDHAM have signed Salford Red Devils forwards Jordan Walne and Liam Bent, each on a month’s loan.
Both can play prop or second-row and they’ve been recruited because front-row man Phil Joy is out with a dislocated shoulder and other forwards were also in the wars in the Roughyeds’ last game at Hull KR.
“We picked up a couple of knocks in that game and with Phil Joy currently sidelined the two new lads, Jordan and Liam, will add to our numbers and increase competition for places,” said Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton.
Walne (24) played two games for Oldham in League One in 2013 while on dual-registration from Salford.
In the same season he had eight games for Workington Town before winning a place in the Red Devils Super League squad, making 48 appearances at the top level, most of them in 2014 and 2015.
Bent, who is only 19, was promoted to the Red Devils first-team squad in 2016, having previously won a ‘best forward’ award in the under-19s, when he was only 17.
