WHILE describing his new one-year full-time contract with Betfred Super League leaders Castleford Tigers as “a dream come true”, Kieran Gill has recognised the part Oldham have played in his development.
The 21-year-old centre or wing scored eight tries in 12 games on loan to the Roughyeds last season, while this year he added five more tries in nine outings for Scott Naylor’s men before suffering a serious knee injury on his Super League debut last Sunday.
He’s now waiting for an operation and he won’t play again this season — a blow that was softened somewhat by his new contract with his hometown club.
Said Kieran: “I want to thank Oldham for giving me opportunities to become a bigger, better player.
“I took a long road to get here, but I believed in myself and I’ve worked hard to get where I am. To be rewarded with a new contract is amazing.
“I must say thanks to all the coaching staff at Cas, and also at Oldham, for helping me to keep achieving and to keep progressing as a young lad in this game.”
