HEARTIEST congratulations are extended to former Oldham captain Terry Flanagan, who has been awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services to Rugby League.
Similarly honoured are Brian Noble and Natalie Gilmour, for her services to Women’s Rugby League.
A few years ago Terry became chairman of Rugby League Cares, a charity which looks after welfare, education, heritage and community development within the game.
With Terry in charge, Rugby League Cares pulled together three former small Rugby League Charities and that move has impacted positively on the sport’s communities.
Rugby League Cares now has an annual turnover of around £1 million and the impact the charity makes on individuals, communities, clubs and the sport generally is immense and is now helping to change the lives of hundreds of people.
Terry is also chairman of the board of Mahdlo Youth Zone in Oldham.
