UNDER-16s, accompanied by an adult, can get free admission to Oldham’s Championship clash with top-four French side Toulouse Olympique at Bower Fold on Sunday (3pm).
Locked in a relegation battle, Roughyeds believe that if Dewsbury Rams can beat the Frenchmen, as they did at the Tetley’s Stadium last Sunday, then so can they.
Coach Scott Naylor and his players readily acknowledge, though, that it will be to their advantage if the home crowd turn up in numbers and make their presence felt in a compact little stadium where it’s easy to create an atmosphere.
Said chairman Chris Hamilton: “Free admission for under-16s with an adult is the first of several different initiatives that we’ll be trying over the rest of the season in a bid to boost crowds and get more people behind the team.
“It’s something we’ve been asked to do by supporters and we are responding to their request.
“We hope people will take advantage and back the team for the rest of the season.”
Full-time Super League official Ben Thaler will referee the game, in which Toulouse will be making their first visit to this area.
Children from local primary schools Greenhill and Alexandra Park will play tag-rugby before the game and again at half-time.
