OLDHAM prop Joe Burke has been named in a 38-man Welsh Rugby League train-on squad, ahead of the World Cup to be held in the Southern Hemisphere in the Autumn.
Already capped 11 times by his country, Newport-born Joe is one of the most experienced forwards in the Welsh camp in terms of the number of times he has pulled on the famous red jersey.
The train-on squad was announced by head coach John Kear today (Friday, July 21) at the kit launch, exactly 100 days before Wales open their World Cup campaign against Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby.
In their group games, they also play Fiji in Townsville (Queensland) and Ireland in Perth (Western Australia).
The news comes just 48 hours before Joe goes into battle for Oldham in Sunday’s derby clash with Rochdale Hornets at Bower Fold (3pm kick-off). Admission for under-16s is FREE if they are with an adult.
