DANIEL Igbinedion, Featherstone’s new signing from Castleford Tigers, is set to make his Rovers debut against Oldham at Bower Fold on Sunday (3pm) after being named today in Jon Sharp’s 19-man squad.
One of the ever-increasing number of Londoners who are making strides in the game, he’s a forward who left the Broncos academy set-up to join the Tigers, as did Tuoyo Egodo, and he’s also had a loan spell at Dewsbury Rams, for whom he has already played against us this year.
It’s interesting, therefore, that he makes a return visit to Bower Fold at a time when we have a couple of Londoners in our own squad —- Kameron Pearce-Paul and Sadiq Adebiyi — having previously had Tuoyo here on loan.
In the Rovers squad Johnson, Walters and Taulapapa make way for Igbinedion, Michael Knowles and Luke Briscoe.
Squad: Hardman, Ulugia, Briscoe, Thackeray, Griffin, Carlile, Bostock, Knowles, Davies, Moore, Cooper, Turner, Wildie, Lockwood, Walton, Hardcastle, Igbinedion, Ormondroyd, Baldwinson.
The Oldham line-up will be finalised at Saturday morning training and, having played so well to beat Toulouse Olympique last week, the players are hoping more fans will turn up to join the club’s famous ‘loud and proud’ group.
A cracking picture in the match-day programme for Sunday’s game, on sale at £2.50, shows what last Sunday’s win meant to fans and players alike. It shows a group of our brilliant supporters celebrating with Luke Adamson and Sammy Gee.
Neither Sammy (one-match suspension) nor Adam Neal (the latest addition to our long injury list) can play in this game, but there are lads to come in, like Michael Ward and Joe Burke, and it promises to be another cracking game at Bower Fold.
Hope to see you there — and if you can bring a friend, relative or work mate with you that’s another way of doing something special to help your club.
