Sheffield Eagles away in the Shield

Oldham will return to the Beaumont Legal Stadium in Wakefield on Sunday, August 6 (KO 3.00pm) to take on Sheffield Eagles in the opening round of the Kingstone Press Championship Shield.

The Roughyeds last played the Eagles as recently as two weeks ago on a warm day in West Yorkshire. Trailing 38-12 midway through the second half, Oldham fought back to get within ten points of their opponents but a late Garry Lo try finally sealed the game for Sheffield.

The encounter will give Scott Naylor’s team an early opportunity to settle the score with their rivals. A valuable two points are on offer in the first of what Oldham Chairman Chris Hamilton describes as “seven cup finals”.

The remaining fixtures of the Championship Shield will be released on Monday, July 31.
