Roughyeds began a new chapter in their history last night when they trained at the Vestacare (Whitebank) Stadium for the first time in years.
Over the last 5 or so years the players had extensively used the facilities at Oasis Academy Oldham but with the new pitch now available coach Scott Naylor was keen to take the squad back.
“It’s an opportunity to give the lads a different environment and freshen some things up whilst still using the gym facilities at Oasis.”
Previously the ground had only been used for the “Captains Run” – the last session before game day but from now on all training sessions will be held there.
Several players received treatment again last night and will continue to be monitored as the week goes on ahead of the Sheffield match in the Championship Shield on Sunday. Luke Hooley, on loan from Wakefield and Ben Morris from St Helens both trained with their new teammates for the first time last night.
