Burke in Welsh squad

FOLLOWING the news that Richard Lepori is in Italy’s World Cup squad it has been confirmed that Joe Burke will also be travelling Down Under as part of Wales’s 24-man squad which was announced today.

The prop, from Newport, has already won 11 Welsh caps and is one of the most experienced members of John Kear’s squad.

Also included is the St Helens youngster Ben Morris, who played five games for Oldham on loan at the back end of last season.

Squad: Davies, Parry (Gloucester); Butler (Halifax), Ansell (Hunslet), Hopkins (Leigh), Channing, Evans, Grant, Kear, Williams (London Broncos), Burke (Oldham), Bennion, Walker (Rochdale), Kopczak (Salford), Fozard (Sheffield), Gay, Roets (South Wales), Grace, Knowles, Morris (St Helens), Lloyd (Swinton), Ralph (Tweed Heads), Joseph (Workington), Seamark (Manly).

They kick off their World Cup campaign against Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby on Saturday, October 28.
