OLDHAM Rugby League Club will be strongly represented when ‘Strictly’ comes to the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Friday, October 20.
Club chairman Chris Hamilton and young supporter Nathan Murgatroyd, better known as ‘Roary’, the official Roughyeds’ mascot, will be among six prominent members of the local community to compete in ‘Strictly Kershaw’s’ — a fund-raiser for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
All six have been training and practising their dance routines since June.
Oldham RLFC (1997) Ltd, which stages its 20th Anniversary gala dinner at the QE Hall on Friday, November 3, has often backed local cancer charities and currently has a corporate partnership with Maggie’s Oldham.
Hosting this local ‘Strictly’ will be Nicola Stephenson and Judith Barker, who recently performed in the West End production of ‘Stepping Out’, a story about a group of tap dancers.
The judges will include European Latin Champions Mandy Thompson and Tony Birchall.
Other participants will be Jean Stretton (Leader of Oldham Council), Conor Marlin (Oldham Athletic), Janet Beachill (Costco) and Andrew Donnelly (Spectrum Brands).
This sell-out ‘glitz and glamour’ event includes dinner and an opportunity for those attending to enjoy a VIP champagne reception in the Mayor’s Parlour with the celebrity hosts.
Two weeks later local boxing hero Anthony Crolla, from Chadderton, will be guest speaker and celebrity guest at Oldham RLFC’s 20th Anniversary gala dinner at the same venue on Friday, November 3.
Tickets are £45 or £450 plus vat for a table of ten. To book, or for more information, ring 07904 898177 or email to: email@example.com
