He won promotion with Rochdale too, but came 'home' after a season and a bit at the Crown Oil Arena.

Another player Scott Naylor inherited from Roughyeds reserves in 2013.

By the end of the 2017 season, he had amassed 116 senior appearances and it would have been a lot more if he hadn't dislocated his left shoulder in the third game of 2017. When it happened again he had surgery to rebuild the joint.

One of several players looking for much  better luck this year.

Son of former assistant coach Lee 'Spanner' Spencer, Jack was quick to sign up for a third season at Oldham, highlighting "unfinished business" as one of his motivations to stay put. Relegation hurt him.

This former Barrow and Halifax man, who has also played in France, is determined to see Oldham pushing for a quick return to the Championship.

The 'baby' of the squad at the age of 20, hard-grafting Liam played 17 games for Roughyeds on loan from Salford in 2017. When he was ultimately released by the Red Devils, Scott Naylor moved quickly to sign him permanently.
