OLDHAM moved into the fourth round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup with a comfortable 42-0 win against Yorkshire amateurs Featherstone Lions at a sunny Vestacare Stadium.
That result means Roughyeds have now played 160 minutes of rugby league without conceding a single point.
The Lions battled every inch of the way to earn the plaudits of Roughyeds boss Scott Naylor and his No 2, Peter Carey, but they didn’t help themselves by ending up on the wrong side of a 14-5 penalty count and having three players sin-binned for separate and unrelated incidents as well as getting a team warning for persistent offences at the ruck.
With little ball, they didn’t seriously threaten Oldham’s line whereas Roughyeds went in for seven tries by Danny Langtree (2), Zack McComb, Ben West, Phil Joy, Dave Eccleston and Danny Bridge, each of them converted by the reliable Paul Crook.
The draw for the fourth round, which includes Betfred Championship clubs, will be made on Tuesday evening.
