THANKS to an impressive all-round performance, built around three tries in each half, Oldham became the first Betfred League 1 side to win at Workington this season.
They didn’t only beat the Cumbrians, 32-10, they outplayed them all over the park to score first-half tries by Liam Bent, Danny Langtree and Lee Kershaw and second half tries by Luke Hooley, Phil Joy and Dave Hewitt, with Paul Crook adding four goals.
Town went into an early 6-4 lead, but Roughyeds then rattled up 22 unanswered points to lead 26-6 going into the last quarter of an hour.
The tries by on-loan teenagers Kershaw and Hooley either side of half-time were especially impressive.
Kieran Gill looked class in the centre, but the whole performance was based on the fantastic work of the middle unit with outstanding efforts from Jack Spencer, Phil Joy, Liam Bent, Adam Jones and Luke Nelmes.
