Roughyeds slip to another defeat

INJURY-HIT Oldham came back from 16-4 down to 16-14 against Workington Town at the Vestacare Stadium, but they fell just short after piling on the pressure in the last few minutes when Town were down to 12 men.

Fuifui Moimoi’s yellow card for a high tackle on Ben West put a load of pressure on his teammates with quarter of an hour left but, try as they might, Roughyeds couldn’t find the guile to turn pressure into points.

Oldham went in front with an early Matty Reid try, but Town led 10-4 at half-time and stretched their lead to 16-4 before the Roughydeds fightback earned late tries for
West and full-back Kyran Johnson, which Paul Crook improved.

After that Oldham had chances and enough good ball to snatch it but they couldn’t get over the line as the Cumbrians defended heroically.
