Blossoms to perform at Betfred Super League Grand Final

Super League are delighted to announce that British rock band Blossoms will headline the pre-match and half-time entertainment at the 2018 Betfred Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 13 (6.00pm).

The Stockport five-piece will perform at the biggest night in Super League and treat the crowd to a selection of their greatest hits such as ‘Charlemagne’, ’There’s A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)’ and ‘I Can’t Stand It’.

Blossoms said, “After attending the Challenge Cup Final last Saturday, we’re all looking forward to playing a few tracks at one of the biggest dates in the sporting calendar. It will be a genuinely great day out.”

Blossoms have previously played at a number of UK festivals including Glastonbury, TRNSMT, Reading & Leeds and Neighbourhood Weekender, as well as performing at international festivals such as Benacassim, Lollapalooza and Sziget.

The band have also supported the likes of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Stone Roses, Kasabian and Liam Gallagher and are set to embark on a European tour at the beginning of October before heading out on a sold-out UK tour in December.

Betfred Super League Chief Executive, Robert Elstone said, “I’m delighted that we’ve secured Blossoms to perform at the biggest night in Super League. Our Grand Final always provides incredible excitement as the two best teams in Super League battle it out to be crowned Champions. Blossoms will make the night even more special, performing to a packed out Old Trafford before the game and at half-time. It’s a pleasure to bring such a popular and contemporary band into the Super League family.”

There are a limited number of seats available for fans that want an amazing up close experience of the band in blocks W209, W210, W211 and W212. Tickets are £30 for adults and £22.50 for concessions in these areas and can be purchased via Rugby League Tickets.

Supporters have until midnight on Monday, September 3 to save 10% on all Betfred Super League Grand Final tickets by visiting rugby-league.com/tickets

AS lockdown restrictions start to ease, now is the time for everyone connected with Oldham RLFC to do all they can to help with getting income from our Club Cash lottery back to where it was before the pandemic started to bite.

This is vital for the club and its finances which, as you all know, have taken a massive hit in the past 12 months.

Collectors will be returning to door-to-door visits in the next few weeks and we hope people who suspended payments will pick up where they left off as we strive and work hard to get back to where we were before the pandemic caused us to lose 50 per cent of our lottery income.

Many of our regular punters, who would normally pay a collector, have answered our calls for help by finding other ways to pay and to retain their chances of winning prizes.

To those people we are very grateful and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them once again for their loyal and continued support.

The lottery, of course, is potentially one of our biggest fund-raisers and for as little as £1 a week — more if you wish — you can help the club immensely and at the same time have chances to win £1,000, £100, £50, £25 or one of ten consolation prizes of £10.

That’s the present prize structure. There’s every chance it will be increased once we are out of lockdown, door-to-door collections start again and we get back to some sort of normality.

In the meantime you can join, or start up again, by contacting the club on 07904 898177 or by email to: enquiries@roughyeds.co.uk

For more information about the lottery, and for the “great opportunities” provided by our partnership with the National Youth and Community Development Association (NYCDA) go our Club Cash page.

There, you will find all the results and a detailed statement about getting back to normal with the help of our not-for-profit partners.

All proceeds from the partnership will continue to support the club and help us to meet the aims of our Club Cash activities, particularly in its aims and objectives to be an active stakeholder in the local community.
